HANDS-ON KIDS COOKING CLASSES NOW IN OUR 15th YEAR!

KIDS COOK! is Denver's only children's cooking camp taught by a Culinary Institute of America graduate with 30 years professional experience teaching both children & adults!

Cooking is a wonderful and delicious way to help kids sharpen their math, reading and science skills, without realizing they’re doing it.  At the same time they're making new friends, widening their culinary palates, learning kitchen safety, sanitation basics and amazing new cooking techniques and skills to last them a lifetime.

Our Cooking classes are for all children, ages 8 - 16

Our classes have an average teacher to student ration of 1:6

Should you have a special needs child who would like to attend, please contact us so we may arrange for a caretaker for her or him.

HOW TO THINK LIKE A CHEF

June  13th - 17th

If  your kids dream of competing on Top Chef or Chopped! or of being America's Next Great Chef, this is a great place for them to start! We start off by teaching them all important knife skills, kitchen safety and sanitation, then during the week, while cooking with provided recipes, we encourage their creativity and experimentation with spices, garnishes, and condiments.  In this first week we cover such exotic things as homemade ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise, then use them on our burgers, fried chicken, homemade French fries, luscious soft pretzels, and award-winning cole slaw.  We'll learn the trick to properly breading foods - like mozzarella sticks and chicken breasts to get that wonderful crispy crust; we'll enjoy breakfast for lunch one day with the world's best waffles and pancakes, and omelettes-to-order (the mark of a true chef!); and we'll celebrate with our own pizzeria  one day!

Be prepared - you may be having dinner cooked for you before you know it!

HOW TO THINK LIKE A PASTRY CHEF

June 20th - 24th

If 'sugar, 'n' spice 'n' all things nice' is your motto, then you'll want to join us in this 5-day sugar frenzy of life in the sweet lane!  We begin the first day exploring the amazing properties of sugar, how just a little heat can change it from granular white grains to heavenly caramel corn; fluffy, sweet marshmallows; crackly, addictive, almond brittle; chewy, intense, chocolate caramels; cotton candy, candy apples, caramel sauce, and so much more!  But then we start combining sugar with  butter, vanilla, flour, flavorings, cream, chocolate...and the possibilities are endless!

Sadly, we've only got a week, but that's enough time to make an assortment of luscious cupcakes (vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, carrot) and various icings (vanilla, chocolate, cream cheese, peanut butter); a plethora of cookies (chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, thumbprint, macaroon, spice, your choice) and brownies; homemade ice cream, cones & sauces; decadent breakfast pastries, like gooey cinnamon buns, apple crumb muffins, chocolate chip muffins, gingerbread or blueberry waffles and scones.

Mmmmm, life is good with a sweet tooth.

HOW TO THINK LIKE A CHEF, II

June 27th - July 1st

Are your kids glued to the Food Channel, playing Chopped! in your kitchen and  assigning you to Sous Chef duties?  If so, this is a great place for them to spend their summer!  We start off by teaching them all important knife skills, kitchen safety and sanitation, then as the week progresses, while cooking with provided recipes, we encourage their creativity and experimentation with spices, garnishes, and condiments. In this second week of How to Think Like A Chef  we once again whip up magical things such as as homemade ketchup, mustard, relish and mayonnaise, then use them as components in other sauces and dishes.  We'll make a stovetop smoker out of things you already have at home, then use it to smoke chicken legs and ribs, for a down-home American BBQ. Enjoy a picnic lunch with buttermilk-brined fried chicken, burgers, no-mayo cole slaw, knock-your-socks-off potato salad, and cornbread. Battle it out for the best pizza in Evergreen. And on Day 5, go head-to-head with a mystery basket of ingredients for Top Chef Evergreen, 2016!

PLAY DOUGH

July 11th - 15th

We all fondly remember Play Doh, but happily these doughs are 100% edible!

Every day this week, we'll be working, and playing, with a different dough.  The one common factor in all of them is flour, but beyond that, they're all very different.  Some are delicate, some are rather resilient.  Some are used for sweet dishes, others for savory, and some for both.  But one thing is for sure, whether we're working with Phyllo Dough or Cookie Dough, Pasta Dough or Bread Dough or  that delicious Sweet Yeast Dough we're going to be doing lots of rolling this week, but we're certainly going to have lots of goodies to show for it!

'ROUND THE WORLD IN 5 DAYS

July 18th - 22nd
Save the plane fare and travel the world with us! The best part of traveling is always the food, and this year we'll be visiting Italy (Homemade Pasta, Chicken Scampi or Cacciatore, Garlic Bread, Italian Cheese Cake);  Mexico (Homemade Tortillas, Turkey & Yam Tacos, Guacamole, Roasted Tomato Salsa, Cinnamon Sugar Churros);  Japan (Sushi, Vegetable Tempura, Chicken Yakitori, Green Tea Ice Cream); France (Quiche Lorraine, Soupe l'Oignon, Crepes Suzettes); and Greece (Chicken Souvlaki, Spanakopita, Hummus, Baklava).
 No need for a passport!
