2019 Cooking Class Schedule

Now in our 19th year, For the Love of Food Cooking School provides recreational chefs with engaging, interactive and fun hands-on cooking classes with a strong emphasis on Healthy Cooking and Food's power to protect, energize and heal our bodies. 

You'll learn how to prepare food deliciously and healthfully while drawing the most nutrition out of your foods, what herbs and spices are beneficial for your health, and how food can keep you in optimum health.

In addition to being a Certified Executive Chef, who has taught at the most prestigious professional Culinary Schools for 30+ years,  Chef Diane also holds a degree in Nutrition and is a Certified Nutrition Therapist.

At For the Love of Food our cooking philosophy is to teach you not just How to Think and Cook Like a Chef, but also the Science and the Why's behind each cooking method.

A 4-Class Series

WEDNESDAYS, March 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th  6:30 - 9:30 PM


Our most popular Cooking Series - In the first class we'll cover the fundamentals of cooking techniques necessary for all cuisinesWe start with the all-important Knife Skills.

Then over the next three weeks you’ll gain the essentials skills needed to help you move from cooking with recipes to Learning to Cook from your Heart and Soul and Be Transformed into a More Confident and Creative Cook. 

We focus on technique - the how's and why's of cooking, rather than just the doing, so you'll become more comfortable with food in general, and will ultimately be able to cook without a cookbook - you'll come to viscerally understand the foods you're cooking with and the methods used to cook them.  At the same time we'll aim to thrill you and your taste-buds as we move on through sautéing, roasting, braising, poaching, pan & classic sauces and variations, and stocks.  

Hands-on experimentation and questions are encouraged.  Plus, every class includes a full meal!  We guarantee you'll leave as a more confident, creative, healthful cook than when you arrived!

The Art of Rolling Maki +Sushi Goodie Bag

Not only is making (and eating!) sushi one of the most fun evenings you can have, but it is also one of the healthiest ways you can treat your body! 

Plus you'll get to take home a Sushi goodie-bag with everything you'll need to make perfect Maki rolls at home!  We'll have an assortment of fish and vegetables for you to work with, as well as seaweed salad and other munchies.

MOTHER'S DAY, SUNDAY, May 12th, 2019  11:30 AM - 2:00 PM

What could be a lovelier way to honor Mom than with a fabulous brunch complete with Mimosas, Bellinis and Elderberry Pinwheels* served in our beautiful garden patio?  Not much, I'd say! 

Especially when the menu includes - Hot Smoked Salmon Salad with Arugula, Goat Cheese, Roasted Corn & Asparagus, Cranberries & Walnuts; Gluten-Free Wild Blueberry Scones with Maple Drizzle; Cold Strawberry Mint Soup with Lemon Cream; fresh ground local coffee and tea, and a Rose for every mom.

Whether you choose to join your friends in our fabulous New Venue, enjoy a private one-on-one cooking class in your kitchen or ours, or host a Gourmet Get-Together in your own home, you will learn cooking techniques, fabulous new recipes, tricks and skills, plus gain a ton of new kitchen confidence from Denver's only 30-year experienced professional culinary instructor.

Chef Diane Bukatman has taught cooking at the New York Restaurant School, The French Culinary Institute, Johnson & Wales, the Arts Institute of Colorado and the Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, and has an advanced degree in Holistic Nutrition with a focus on Cancer prevention and treatment through nutrition. 

Please remember to always wear close-toed shoes to class!

Insurance regulations prohibit anyone with open toes from participating in class

where sharp knives, hot water and heavy pots are present.

All Classes last 2 to 2.5 hours.  Wine & Beer Dinners last 3 to 3.5 hours. 
Classes include take-home recipes, a full meal together, cooking tips, plus an assortment of refreshments. 

Aprons and All Cooking Equipment is provided and available for purchase. 

Note that registration is a firm commitment to attend the class or series and no refunds will be made.  Any cancellations or class changes must be made at least 5 days prior to class.
 No exceptions may be made.
